The All-New 2019 Subaru Ascent

There is a brand new Subaru hitting the road this summer and it is the largest and most powerful Subaru yet. The all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent is raising the bar for powerful performance and safety to take your family on even bigger adventures. The Ascent is a 3-row SUV that can comfortably seat up to 8 and is available with second-row captain's chairs to seat 7 and an impressive 153.5 cubic feet of passenger space. The Subaru Ascent is the perfect family SUV with 19 cup holders, up to 8 USB ports, and available Wi-Fi connectivity. When your Ascent isn't full of passengers you have up to 87 cubic feet of maximum cargo space for whatever comes your way.

The Subaru Ascent is also raising the bar for safety with standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology on every 2019 model. Yes, Subaru's award-winning package of four advanced safety features is a standard feature of every Ascent. The Ascent also comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode, and Hill Descent Control for traction and control no matter the weather or conditions on and off-road. The Ascent is powered by a new 2.4L turbocharged BOXER engine that generates 260 horsepower and can tow up to 5,000 lbs.

Subaru Ascent VS Honda Pilot

One of the most popular family SUVs is the Honda Pilot but that is all about to change with the arrival of the all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent.

  • One of the first ways that the Subaru Ascent beats the Honda Pilot is with better fuel economy. The Honda Pilot only gets 18 city and 26 highway mpg when equipped with all-wheel-drive. The Ascent gets 21 city and 27 highway mpg.
  • While the Honda Pilot has almost the same about of passenger space, 152. cubic feet, it is not nearly as comfortable as the Ascent. The Subaru Ascent has more front headroom, front legroom, rear legroom, and more cargo space.
  • The Honda Pilot features a 280 horsepower engine that isn't nearly as capable as the 2.4L turbocharged BOXER engine. While the Honda Pilot has more horsepower it can only tow up to 1,500 lbs. The 260 horsepower BOXER engine on the Ascent can easily tow up to 5,000 lbs.

Subaru Ascent VS Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer is another top competitor in the family SUV market and has been for years but those days are over because the Subaru Ascent is a more capable, safer, and affordable family SUV.

  • When it comes to interior space the Ford Explorer is lacking with only 81.7 cubic feet of maximum space. Which is a lot less compared to the Ascents 86.5 cubic feet of maximum space.
  • No one wants to pay more for less and that is what you will get with the Ford Explorer. Many of the latest advanced safety features are only available on more expensive trim levels. You will also have to pay extra for all-wheel-drive on the Ford Explorer. Both features come standard on the Subaru Ascent; Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.
  • Making the most out of each tank of gas is important and is just one more thing that the Subaru Ascent does better than the Ford Explorer.

Subaru Ascent VS Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander isn't the only family SUV with standard advanced safety anymore. The 2019 Ascent comes standard with its own Driver Assist Technology package, Subaru EyeSight which features Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. The Highlander's Toyota Safety Sense doesn't feature the same for safety features and some features aren't available at all. But there is a number of other ways that the Subaru Ascent outshines the Toyota Highlander.

  • While the Highlander and Ascent may look similar in size the Ascent is slightly larger and offers more passenger space and more cargo room. The Highlander only offers passenger space of 144.9 cubic feet with 83.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.
  • The Subaru Ascent is a better SUV for active families who are always on the go with standard raised roof rails with integrated crossbars to easily bring the bikes, skis, or kayaks with you. Roof rails will cost you extra on the Highlander and so will the crossbars.
  • One other way that the Subaru Ascent leaves the Toyota Highlander behind is with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The Highlander is available with a less effective and capable all-wheel-drive system. Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive delivers unmatched traction, control, stability, and balance.

Subaru Ascent VS Volkswagen Atlas

The Volkswagen Atlas is another new addition to the family-friendly SUV game but like the rest of the competition the Atlas can't quite compare to the Subaru Ascent.

  • Fuel efficiency is a top deciding factor for many families and this is just one way the 2019 Ascent beats the Volkswagen Atlas. The all-wheel-drive Volkswagen Atlas only gets 17 city and 23 highway mpg. The Subaru Ascent has a larger fuel tank and gets an impressive 27 highway and 21 city mpg.
  • The Volkswagen Atlas is available with 4MOTION® all-wheel-drive system. But 4MOTION® isn't available on every model. To get an Atlas equipped with 4MOTION® all-wheel-drive you have to choose a more expensive V6 Atlas. But the Subaru Ascent features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard on every model.
  • Another way the Subaru Ascent bests the Volkswagen Atlas is with more standard advanced safety features, like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. Many of the same features will cost you extra on the Atlas.
