Subaru Ascent vs. Subaru Tribeca: Head to Head

Subaru Ascent VS Subaru TribecaLove Your Subaru Tribeca? Get Ready for An Upgrade in the new Subaru Ascent!

When it comes to crossover SUVs Subaru has come out with some great models over the years, including the Subaru Tribeca. The Tribeca has since been discontinued since 2014 but replaced with the fully capable and reliable Ascent. Both are three-row SUVs that offer ample power, but the new Ascent has added more space, more versatility, and a more athletic driving experience. If you were a lover of the Tribeca get ready for all the new 2019 Ascent has to offer.

A New Look and A New Attitude

The Subaru has perfected the three-row SUV with the new 2019 Ascent. The Ascent is designed from the Lafayette, Indiana plant and is made for North American families, and it rides on an extended version of the new Subaru Global Platform. The all-new Ascent Crossover has an affordable starting price for its base model and features a roomy interior, state-of-the-art infotainment system, and capability to tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is the most in Subaru history!

The new Ascent is not underpowered like the Tribeca. The Ascent features an all-new Subaru 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder BOXER engine. This engine produces up to 260 horsepower and 277 pounds to feet of torque so you can feel the excitement every time you hit the gas pedal. The Ascent is also equipped with Subaru's proven Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. This system offers more power to all four wheels so you can take on tougher terrain from Tucson to Oro Valley.

The Subaru Tribeca only features one trim level that features fog lights, leather upholstery, and heated seats, as well as options like a navigation system and a backseat entertainment system. The engine that powered the Tribeca was a 3.6L horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine that gave you 256 horsepower and 247 pound to feet of torque. The maximum capacity on the inside was 74.4 cubic feet when the back two rows are folded flat. The Tribeca simply can't compare to the added space in the Ascent as well as the towing capacity, updated technology and added horsepower.

While there were things to love about the Tribeca it didn't have the rugged capability that so many Sahuarita drivers crave. The Ascent is designed to get you further while the Tribeca was more of a run around car for basic errands. The Ascent has that "go-anywhere" Subaru attitude. The 2019 Subaru Ascent also comes with X-Mode for serious off-road enthusiasts. There are 8.7-inches of ground clearance, and when paired with Hill Descent Control you'll get more help in maintaining a constant speed when traveling downhill.

A small but fantastic detail that is featured in the new Ascent is the dog-friendly materials so you can bring man's best friend along for every trip. The Ascent also shows off its sportier handling due to its lower center of gravity, and for all the parent shoppers in Marana, the Ascent is one of the safest crossovers on the road with its standard advanced driver-assist EyeSight safety system.

The Ascent isn't as small inside like the previous Tribeca. The Ascent is actually the biggest model that Subaru has ever built, and the automakers have made the most of the interior space with second-row seats that slide for easier third-row access, USB charging ports in the third row, a large panoramic sunroof, waterfall head restraints for better visibility, and 19 standard cupholders!

If you are a Green Valley driver looking for your next crossover SUV the 2019 Subaru Ascent offers everything you need to be equipped for your next adventure. Come check it out for a test drive at Tucson Subaru.
