If you're shopping for a comfortable, convenient, and well-equipped crossover to help you make the most of your weekly journeys in Sahuarita or Sierra Vista, it's hard to find a more versatile all-around option than the Subaru Forester. With its flexible accommodations, all-weather capability, and array of amenities, it's ideally suited for whatever adventures lay ahead. For 2021, Forester makes advanced amenities even more accessible, moving cornering LED headlights to the base tier, keyless proximity entry to Premium models, and Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert to the Sport trim.

One crossover to which the Subaru Forester is often compared is the Nissan Rogue. Having received a full refresh for 2021, Rogue provides decent competition but doesn't quite match Forester's well-roundedness. Here's a quick look at a few examples.

  • Capability: While forester offers excellent comfort and driving dynamics on the road, it's equally proficient away from the asphalt. Like all Subaru SUVs, Forester comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive and 8.7 inches of ground clearance. And stepping just one level from base adds X-MODE® traction and hill-descent control. Rogue is clearly intended for on-road journeys only, and all-wheel drive is only optional.

  • Efficiency: Forester and Rogue are evenly matched under the hood, with 182- and 181-horsepower engines, respectively. However, when comparing all-wheel-drive models, Forester achieves slightly better EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings (26city/33highway/29combined vs. 25/32/28).

  • Max Cargo: Carrying capacity is one of a crossover's primary benefits. With the rear seats folded, Forester provides up to 76.1 cubic feet for cargo, while Rogue tops out at 74.1.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Both models come standard with a suite of advanced driver aids, including lane-keeping and collision mitigation. However, Forester comes standard with adaptive cruise control while Rogue requires climbing the trim ladder.

  • Value: Despite offering superior capability, more features, and standard all-wheel-drive, Forester still costs less than a similarly equipped FWD Rogue.
